Biafra: IGP Has Warn Police Officers Not To Terrorise Law-abiding Citizens





The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase has warned policemen specially deployed to Anambra state to contain the activities of members of pro-Biafra groups, especially Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to be courteous in handling them so as not to present to the international community negative impression about the force and that of the federal government.


Arase was in Anambra state to take delivery of 25 special security cars properly fitted with facilities to detect drunk drivers and over-speeding donated to the state police command by the state government to ensure quick response to crime.

Addressing officers and men of the Anambra state police command yesterday at the Command’s state headquarters, Amawbia, near Awka the state capital, Arase commended the police officer in the manner they promptly contained the violence that broke out during the pro-Biafra agitators protest in Onitsha, the state’s commercial nerve centre last week.

Arase who observed a minute silence in honour the police officer who lost his life during the pro-Biafra agitators’ protest promised all the policemen posted specially to quell the violence of promotion at the end of the operation, assuring them that they would wear new ranks as soon as they returned to their respective commands.
