The
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Alhaji Yahaya
Bello of the All Progressive Congress (APC), winner of the Kogi State governorship
election.
According to the result announced by INEC after Saturday's supplementary poll, the APC polled a total of 247, 752 to defeat the incumbent governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Idris Wada, who polled 208, 877 votes.
The APC polled 6885 votes against the PDP's 5363 in Saturday's supplementary poll, according to the Chief Returning Officer for the poll, Professor Emmanuel Kucha, the vice chancellor of the federal university of Agriculture, Akure.
“That Yahaya Bello, having polled the highest number of votes and satisfied the law is hereby returned elected,” he declared.
