It's thought financial-settlement
issues have delayed the process for Mariah and Nick, despite arranging a
pre-nup, while James and ex-wife Erica Packer's settlement has been plagued by
stipulations in Australian law, Mail Online has contacted Mariah's, Nick's and
James' management for clarification.
And with the Australian casino
businessman worth an estimated $4.5 billion in US dollars, he's definitely
someone to have as a friend.
Mariah, 45, has been on cloud nine
since James, 47, swept her off her feet less than a year ago.
The songbird's engagement ring is a
.35 carat diamond sparkler estimated to be worth approximately $7.5 million.
The designer of the ring, Wildred Rosado, told Vogue he went to great lengths to create the perfect ring that would express James' total love and adoration for Mariah.
'I took the standards super high,
and I wanted to create a ring that could not be measured up to,' the designer
said.
'I really wanted to create something
for her that was about new beginnings,' Rosado said of the Butterfly singer.
'She obviously has a strong point of view about what she likes.'
Mariah and James went public with
their romance in June of last year, and spent part of the summer cruising along
the Italian Riviera on his yacht.
The 35-year-old America's Got Talent
host enjoyed his own moment in the spotlight by posting a silly Instagram on
Friday in the wake of Mariah's engagement to billionaire James Packer.
His own marriage to Mariah Carey
ended last year, but at least Nick Cannon has a sense of humour about it.
But
it was all staged fun with Hart's help, judging by Nick's caring message
intended for his ex.
Nick was seen in a hospital bed
clothed in one of those unsightly hospital gowns with eyes closed as though
prostrate with heartsickness, as his pal Kevin Hart hovered over him with a
worried expression.
'Ha! This made me laugh out loud for
real!!! HILARIOUS! #AllLove,' Nick wrote alongside the humourous snap.
He then added on a sincere note:
'Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union...
#GreatPeople #GreatCouple'
Nick - who shares two children with
Mariah, four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe - seemed mighty upbeat, proof
that being positive can conquer anything.
Talk of engagement spread like
wildfire on Thursday, with representatives for the singer confirming the news
to Daily Mail Australia, saying: 'Yes, the couples were engaged tonight in New
York.'
The couple celebrated their new
relationship status at an engagement party at Eleven Madison Park on Thursday.
